Basic Policy Against Customer Harassment
The K&O Energy Group is committed to ensuring safety and quality in all its operations, maintaining a fundamental stance of striving to provide high-quality services to all our customers and business partners.
On the other hand, nuisance behavior by a small minority of customers or business partners may harm the working environment of employees within our group companies and contractors, potentially leading to health issues or a decline in service quality.
To prevent such situations, we have established this policy as follows:
Definition of Customer Harassment
Based on the Corporate Manual for Countermeasures Against Customer Harassment issued by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, we define customer harassment as: "Demands made by a customer or third party where means or manner used to pursue the demand is socially unacceptable in light of the validity of the demand's content, thereby harming the working environment of employees."
Acts Constituting Customer Harassment
In response to the following or similar actions and behaviors, we may immediately suspend or terminate the interaction and refuse future office visits or site calls.
If the behavior is deemed malicious, we will consult with the police, legal counsel, and other authorities to take strict action, including legal measures.
Please note that the following list is for illustrative purposes and is not exhaustive.
・Grabbing arms or collars, hitting, punching, kicking, throwing objects, or damaging property.
[Verbal Abuse and Threats]・Shouting, intimidation, insults, verbal abuse, threats, or menacing behavior.
・Slander, defamation, personal attacks, disparaging remarks, discriminatory language, or infringement of privacy.
・Suggesting or hinting at ties with anti-social forces.
・Posting content on social media that damages the reputation of the company or its employees, or hinting at the exposure of personal information.
・Detaining employees for an excessive amount of time, refusing to leave the premises, or making excessively long phone calls that deviate from social norms.
・Interfering with business operations by forcing repeated explanations or apologies for the same matter.
・Demanding services, specifications, compensation, money, or goods without a rational basis.
・Demanding internal disciplinary action, such as the dismissal of an employee.
・Deflecting the conversation, nitpicking, persistent blaming, or seizing upon minor slips of the tongue.
[Excessive Repetition]・Repeatedly making unreasonable complaints or demands.
・Persistent visits or contacts that deviate from social norms.
・Summoning employees to a specified location or forcing them to visit for explanations or apologies.
[Sexual Harassment]・Sexual behavior such as physical contact, stalking, or following employees.
・Sexual remarks, persistent invitations to meals or meetings, or making sexual jokes.
・Demanding special treatment by exploiting a superior position.
・Forcing written apologies without a justifiable reason, or demanding excessive forms of apology such as prostrating oneself.
Internal System Regarding Customer Harassment
・We will disseminate this policy internally to demonstrate our corporate stance against customer harassment.
・We will provide employee education regarding knowledge of and response methods for customer harassment.
・We will establish an internal system to ensure timely and appropriate consultation, reporting, and response when customer harassment occurs.
・We will collaborate with legal counsel and other experts as necessary to ensure an appropriate response to customer harassment.
・We will prioritize the safety, working environment, and mental health care of employees who have been subjected to customer harassment.
